- Nov. 19, 2010
- Collaboration Room in West Bldg. 9, Tokyo Institute of Technology O-okayama, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, JAPAN
|
Scope:
For the last decades, diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating has been industrialized in wide range of industry from machining tools, data storage, automobile components to biomedical implants. As this variety of application is based on the tunable properties of the DLC coatings, it has become extremely important to establish the standard or classification of the DLC coatings for further promotion in the industrial applications. Encouraged by the pioneering works in Germany, Korea and Japan, a lot of efforts have been continuing to achieve international cooperation for standardization of diamond-like carbon coatings.
This workshop follows previous workshops held 2008 in Korea, 2009 in Japan and 2010 in Germany. |
This workshop focus on the following issues.
- Review of the present status of DLC standardization in developed countries
- Survey of the requirements in industry (Automobile, Electronics, Machining tools, Machine parts, etc.)
- Identification of the key parameters for the classification of DLC coating
- Specification of the characterization method for the classification of DLC coating
- Industrial guideline for the supply of DLC coating
- How to keep secret in specific technology for successful worldwide round robin test
